Design and Management Education
for Sustainable Healthcare

The sustainable transition of our healthcare systems is a priority for human and planetary health. Goods and services cause over 70% of the health sector’s emissions. Hence, design and management skills are crucial from an environmental perspective. DesHealth brings together an experienced cross-sector partnership to develop, through systems-thinking methods, inter- disciplinary training tools addressed for participants. Partners will develop a blended Training Pro- gram with a specific agenda on sustainable design, sustainability management, and Systemic Design; and an Intensive Training Course to allow learners to challenge with small-scale projects in an interdisciplinary environment.
Goals:
- To address the lack of interdisciplinary training tools on sustainable healthcare globally.
- To bridge the knowledge gap among diverse health stakeholders by fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration.
- To provide learners with the core skills to address a sustainable transition of the EU healthcare sector.
Behind the project
Interdisciplinary training tools for sustainable healthcare are significantly lacking globally. Various barriers hinder progress, including unclear environmental responsibilities, inadequate waste management resources, unsupportive organizational cultures, and weak regulatory frameworks. Notably, 71% of healthcare emissions stem from the supply chain, emphasizing the need for enhanced design and management skills.
Partners
